Title: Neumann omnis
Post by: Geoff G on June 07, 2006, 01:59:58 AM
So, I'm thinking about picking up a pair of omnis.  I don't particularly need (or want) interchangeable capsules or other patterns, so I don't need anything as expensive as U89s or 170s.  I'd like to add something else to the quiver besides the Shoeps.

I must admit, I'm not that familiar with omnis, on the whole, but what I have heard is Neumann, and I like it.

I don't see much about the KM183's.  What's a fair price for these?  I'd guess it's about the same as the 184s.  Anybody know a good place to pick up a pair?

Any other recommendations for a pair of omnis...in that price level?

Thanks all,
Geoff.

...either SD or LD...doesn't really matter.  If I HAD to swing one way, it'd probably be SD.

You could pickup a pair of EW QTC-40s. They go for about 2K a matched pair.

Check out the fullcompass b-stock area. There are a few pairs of 183's available. They aren't rock bottom prices, but I'm pretty sure they are a good chunk less than new. Perhaps you can haggle them down some?? I think they come with full warranty, etc, just like a new pair...
