Two months ago I recorded a local band (Dr. Z's Experiment). I've recorded them several times & for some reason this show was unreal. After the show, while putting my equipment away, I dropped my old Sharp MS-MD722. It hit really hard & I knew it was toast. So to make a long story short, I gave up on minidisc recording all together. Now I just use my PDAudio system exclusively. I really want to get this show transfered to WAV. But I don't know anybody who has a MD player/recorder to do the transfer. I've placed posts at other sites & nobody will help me out. Is there anybody out there who can help a fellow taper?? I would be your best friend!

I can only analog transfer MD's, but I would be happy to do a transfer for ya. I wont track it, but I will burn it to wav or flac and you can do the rest.
There are a few people on here with the large MD decks that have digi out. You might want to hold out for them. LMK.

Try contacting local sound companys you need a sony professional minidisc recorder the rack mounted type it has optical and sdif out. as well as XLR and rca. this is the only machine that will do a digital transfer that I know of.
The other problem you might run into is what type of atrac compression was used to make it?

The MS722 is an older model, it can only do SP, all decks are capable of transferring that so that should be fine.

I could do it. Where are you situated??
I can transfer it via USB using Sonicstage and it'll save it in WAV. format and I'll burn it to a disc/s.

I am under the impression that only the soinc Stage 3.5 and the newest HiMD model will digitally transfer old MD's. My HiMD will not do that transfer. Am I wrong?

I do not think you can do it Sony minidisc recorders to my knowledge will only transfer HIMD recordings not regular md digitally. I did heard a rumor that they were releasing a machine that will upload any format of md to a computer but I have not seen it. Is that what you have? If so how does it work?

I have a Sony JE520 MD platyer/recorder & a TDK 5900 CD recorder. Until I got my iRiver I would record the MD show via optical out/in to a CDR (wav). If you want to send the show to me I can do the same for you. I'm in Denver. Just let me know.

The MD you speak of is the MZ-RH1. It just recently came out in Japan and will be out any day now in the states. It will upload, via sonic stage 4.0, any and all MDs no matter what the recording mode.
I can do a digital transfer of the disc for you. I can FTP you the flac or mail you a CD.

Not sure, I haven't tried to transfer NET MD recorded discs so wouldn't know. Thanks for clearing that up though.

You are correct. Only the RH1 (which is currently not out in the USA just yet) will upload HIMD, NetMD, MDLP, and SP recordings. If you have a HIMD and a show recorded with the HIMD then you can upload it via sonic stage.

I just PM'd you.

Glad you found help here G8ful Brad!!! Sorry we couldn't help you on ETREE Forums!
Look for someone with a deck with a digital out. Get them to do a transfer to FLAC, even if it is one giant file. You can cut it with CDWave and edit as you wish.
