Just got the MicroTrack and I'm having trouble charging it. I don't get the "battery charged" message. Tried charging for 7 hours, the battery icon looked full but when I booted up it showed less charge than when I originally turned it on. Tech support said to charge it overnight, but it's been charging for 11 hours and still no "battery charged" message.
Problems out of the box don't exactly inspire confidence. With all the complaints I'm reading I'm considering returning the MT for the R-09. Issues for me: I already own a bunch of CF cards and no SD. Also wanted the digital in. Since the R-09 feedback is only starting to trickle in, I'd appreciate suggestions from people who've used these units. Thanks.

That blows. It sounds like you might have a defective battery. Can you exchange the MT for a new one? If you already have CF cards and need digi-in, it is worth sticking with the MT.

Keep on charging. I had to unplug and plug it back in a couple of times. Also, what version are you using? They have many upgrades. I use mine as a bit dump after my V3 and it does the job. Still wishing on the 2gb seamless split but, 24/48 doesn't suck.

Thanks for the replies. I think the firmware is 1.0.2. I downloaded all the updates, but I read you should only upgrade the firmware on a full battery.

Wasn't there something written into one of the first firmware's where the "battery charged" icon would only flash for a second - and not stay on when complete? I thought I remembered reading something to that effect. If you've had your MT charging for that long - I would leave it plugged into the AC and download the newest firmware.

I agree. I always update the firmware with the unit plugged into the AC.

neutrino and rodeen, thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try.

I think 1.0.2 is the bootware version. (At least I think they call it bootware) This is different than the firmware version. This may not help the problem, but it may help in trying to explain the problem. Your MT should list both a firmware and Bootware version.

Thanks dallman. I've decided to return the MT and pick up the R09. spoogles MicroTNT story convinced me to make the switch while I still can.
