Title: D8 experiencing the "blankity blank" syndrome....
Post by: housermix on June 21, 2006, 01:30:38 PM
This happened to me once before and I did get it fixed, but my D8 is doing what the repair guy referred to as the "blankity blank" syndrome, which is where the deck records for 30 seconds and then shuts it self off and then on, usually resulting in the tape being eaten. Can someone please tell me how much this was to get fixed, I can't remember? I want to see if it is even worth it to get it fixed, as I don't do much field recording these days, just local bands and basement jamming. Thanks in advance!

beat me to it, dre.  Paul does wonderful work.  I'm sure if you call or email your problem he can give you an estimate.

the fix for that symptom involves replacing the heads -- so that's $350 right there without labor.

I had the problem with my D100 and it ended up being the gears. The fix was about $175. They are different models but the problem you are having was exactly like mine.
