Title: dpa mma6000 low cut switch-in filter
Post by: dactylus on June 25, 2006, 04:18:22 PM
Hello,

A cry for advice from a complete taping noob.  Later this week I'll be running:

dpa 4061s>mma6000>mt24/96

This will be my first time using this setup.  I'm a little confused about when it would be appropriate to use the mma6000's "low cut switch-in filter that inserts a 12dB/octave 100Hz low cut" into both channels.  General guidelines would be helpful!!

I'll be trying to stealth emmylou harris/mark knopfler at one show & elvis costello & the imposters later in the week.  Both shows are in fairly intimate settings (small theatres).  I have a lower balcony seat at one show and I'm about 10 rows back, stage left at the other show.

Any advice would be appreciated and please be kind to a noob.    ;D

Thanks

Leave it alone.  If the bass response is overwhelming after the fact I'm sure you can clean it up.

the mma6000 is a steep rolloff, and should be avoided, unless the bass is overwhelming / crushing.

Thanks guys, I'll let you know how it goes...

I tried it with mine once. Bad idea. Any excessive bass I've encounterd has been easily removed in post production.
