Title: HELP: recording issue UA-5>IriverH120.....
Post by: MarkE on June 25, 2006, 07:16:54 PM
Wonderin if anyone can help...... Recorded a show last night (DBT, R. Randolf, Black Crowes) 1st 2 are fine, the Crowes set however when  I listen to it in Winamp is reading 96K and sounds like the Chipmunks... So I grab my bag (not the bean bag) open it, and check my UA-5 to see if its on 96k saple rate.. Its not.. So Im wondering how this happened , and more importantly, is it fixable(the recording, and the settings) by a not very competent comuter user (me)? The recording came out spectacular and Id love to share it.. I knew something was wrong when I saw the file was only 65 minutes and the show was about 2 hours... My bro optical patched out of me at the show, I havent asked him if his is like that..
Any advice on what I could have done wrong?
Thaks for any help,
Mark E

Small update... Called my brother, his came out fine... He was optical out of me same deck (H120).. So its not the preamp.. Its a setting of the sample rate or something in the H120. I cant figure it out... When I read the files. the others are at 1411k and the Crowes set is at 3027K and when i go into the recording screen and its on digital input, it shows 64000Hz..... Thanks again.....Mark E

Bob,
Thanks for the follow up.. I just moved my house last week and my taping stuff is still buried.. I read the forum over on rockbox.org, and I think you guys are all genius' cuz I now remember showing my buddy my deck and I think it was in record mode when I unplugged  it.. So when I plugged it back in (while recording) it grabbed a different sample rate. I never bothered to fix it. I just took my brothers H120's recording (plugged out of mine) and it is fine..
Thanks again though.. Im taping Tesla next week and will try it again...
