Well, I am making (finally!) the plunge and upgrading from the ol' digiflex xlr-xlr cables. After seeing the hype regarding Sharon's handiwork wia the canare star quads on ebay, I was wondering if anyone can give me the pros and cons of attaching right-anlges Nuetrik connectors, both male and female. I am running into a UA5, so the right angles would help in working the gain, and I like to reduce the profile on the mics too. I would appreciate the help. BTW, would Sharon be able to do this type of work too?

Right angle connectors are 100% totally your preference. There is absolutely no pro or con to using them over straight connectors. It all depends on what you like and how you setup your gear bag. When I ran the Nova 5 I had my V3 at the top of my bag and ran the RA connectors. Now with the Magnum I run the V3 in a cage and use the straight connectors.
Its all on what you like.

I just last week received a very nice pair of cables from her, with RA connectors on the mic end. Very happy I chose them, they make the J-disc and DIN, etc setups easier without having to worry about the connectors getting in each other's way. Not sure I'd want them on the pre end though, but if you know exactly how you'll have your rig setup at a show, and you think it'd make sense, then go for it. She does charge more for the RA's of course.

One quick note: if I recall correctly from my UA5 days, the commonly used Neutrik right-angle connectors (can't recall the model #) don't fit side-by-side in the UA5.

i have RA neutrik on the pre side of my mini star quads. they both exit at 6 o'clock and have no issue running them side by side into the ua-5.
on my mp-2, that is another story... those inputs are on top of one another....

Yeah, mine (AudioMagic HyperConductors) exited at 6 o'clock as well, but I remember very distinctly having to run a shorty set of straight XLRs because the right-angles didn't fit. Perhaps mine weren't Neutrik, or they were a different model of Neutrik. Hmmmm. :hmmm:

Moke, Sharon is a lady who makes cables for very little money. Somebody discovered her on ebay, and her business has grown a lot since then.

She uses one of the incarnations of Canare. Todd, Ed, and Sharon all do great work!
I know you make your own, so it is probably of no consequence to you.
I dont like RA XLRs, I prefer straight.
never heard of Sharon, but,... we have ToddR, and deadheaded (kind cables) as members here. Ping them for cables.
