I'm trying to make up my mind about my schoeps kc5's. I was thinking about trying to find a nbox or vms5u but the 5u i don't think works with the kc5 cable. Is there anything else i can run my actives into?
got my question answered. thanks

Sorry, I had PM'd him...thought it was common knowledge....
KC5 for use with CMC and M222 bodies. One cable for each channel. For example, MK > KC5 > bodies
If running stereo and need the ease of dealing with one cable for most of the cable run. One could go MK > KCY 250/0 > KS 5I >AK II2C > bodies or MK > KCY 250/5 > AK II2C > bodies
KCY for use with Sonosax SX-M2/LS2, VMS5U, VMS02ib without the need for bodies. For example, MK > KCY 250/0 > KS 5I > 5 pin Binder jack pre-amp (mentioned above) or MK > KCY 250/5 > 5pin Binder jack
this is the link for ease (a bit confusing actually) of understanding it....

Also, just to expand on what Shaggy already wrote, and address something in the original post - neither of the Schoeps active cables (KCY or KC5) work with the NBox. It comes with specific, non Schoeps manufactured cables.

Not a NBox owner myself, but I am pretty sure that the capsule connection of the KC5 cable are used in the NBox set-up. So you might want to keep the cables to be modified.
It comes with specific, non Schoeps manufactured cables.

thanks for the heads up.

Schoeps capsule collettes are used. Schoeps manufactured cabling may also be used if one desires.
Nick is correct that the KC5 or Y cables are not 'fitted' for the nbox.
