What do you guys think? Here's the venue and I'll be behind the soundboard. I was thinking DIN because it looks fairly far back but I have pulled some sick ass ORTF tapes that far back but I was running a P-mod UA-5 witch was on the bright side. Here's what I'll be running: AKG ck61/c480b's > m148 > Oade modSBM-1 > iRiver H120 Not exactly a bright combo >:D Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Personally, I like the more on-axis DIN. I go for that one more often than I do ORTF. ORTF is sweet, but the included audience axis requires a more respectful attentive audience. Turning the mics more forward those few degrees makes a big diff in reducing rearward noise.
agreed
Based on Michale Williams book "Microphone Arrays for Stereo and Multichannel Sound Recording", the Stereo Recording Angle (SRA) for the two configurations are both about +/- 50 deg. The angular distortion for ORTF is 5 deg and DIN 4.5deg. On paper they seam to be very similar and given Moke's points I would also go for the DIN config.
