Here is a quote from an edirol dealers site http://www.solidstatesound.co.uk/edirol_r1.htm (http://www.solidstatesound.co.uk/edirol_r1.htm) about the R-1 being discontinued:
EDIROL R-1 This recorder is now officially discontinued by its manufacturer in favour of their new R-09 model. However, due to demand by organisations who have already purchased R-1 recorders from us, and who wish to purchase more, we have managed to get hold of one final special delivery of just ten more R-1 units. These will arrive with us in August. So, if you place an order from our webshop below now, we will deliver it then. The availability of these last ten R-1 units is on a strictly first-come, first-served basis. Thank you.
Kind of a surprise, can anyone else confirm this?

Well I did a search and confirmed it myself, many dealers are out of stock and say its discontinued, such as http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/) and http://www.samedaymusic.com/product--EDIR1 (http://www.samedaymusic.com/product--EDIR1)

thats too bad that was a nice recorder, but the new r-09 pretty much does make it outdated in size and a few other things.

Good thing I just sold mine on ebay... phew.
