Title: Glow in the dark tape?
Post by: Oysterhead00 on July 25, 2006, 06:20:54 PM
Saw this on eBay...anybody ever tried it to put a few strips on your stand and/or gear bag to draw attention to it so it doesn't get bumped/stepped on?

1 roll of 3m SCOTCHCAL LUMINOUS TAPE 1" x 10 yards.(360 inches) Scotchcal 5900 is a dimensionally stable, photoluminescent film which is Gerber Edge printable. This professional-grade, photoluminescent material is intended for the production of safety signs and markings. 5900 can be described as 'heavy-duty' and it only takes a three minute charge from a white fluorescent light to provide six hours of strong glow. This makes it perfect for rechargeable 'glow in the dark' safety signs and markings.

When I was a photographer, I used that stuff (sparingly) in darkrooms. I used a hole punch to make small round dots to mark certain things, like where the light switch was.

I don't think it's a good idea to call attention to your microphone stand in most situations.

I wouldn't want to stripe it all the way up so everybody notices it, but one place I regularlly tape I put my stand right in front of a support beam so it doesn't interfear with anybody's enjoyment of the show, but the footprint is just a bit too big that it sticks out in both sides and without fail, it always gets kicked.  If I stand on the left side, someone bumps into the right and vice versa.  If I stand in front of it, someone will always try to squeeze behind me.  I figure a few strips on the legs would HOPEFULLY draw some attention to it so it wouldn't get stepped on, but unless you're looking at the floor you wouldn't notice it and it won't distract people or anything.
