Hey all!
Sorry to be a pest/newbie,i searched the fourm on my situation bit am still not sure-maybe some experienced people could advice me.
Anyhow,am attempting to record a show in NYC next week,am a total newbie to it all tho.
I have a Sony MZ-NH600 Hi-Md recorder(with a line out).
Should i just now buy like a good small battery powered Mic-like a Sony ECM mic(was recomended to me)?
Would that work ok-just clip the mic to my shirt-have it just plugged straight into my MD?

I don't have much knowledge about mics, however for clarity you want to get the mic/mics as high as possible to avoid audience chatter. I'm sure some other forumites can help you on the other aspects.

Thanks.Well its a stealth job,maybe i might wear a hat.I'll be fairly upclose to the stage,so sound should be clear enough i think.

It depends on budget.
At the moment, I'm recommending the SP-CMC-19's

They are cheap at the moment also :)
Make sure your levels are good (not too high so it distorts and not too low). Do some testing by playing your music loud and putting your mics right next to the speakers to get some ideas of setting the levels.

Make sure your levels are good (not too high so it distorts and not too low). Do some testing by playing your music loud and putting your mics right next to the speakers to get some ideas of setting the levels.
Kool,yeah i seen them Sound professionals.Would i be able to buy them in NYC easily?
My major problem is time,i cant order them online as am flying to NYC on Wenesday & the show is on thursday.

They are in Mount Holly, NJ, about 30 minutes east of Philadelphia. I have found their customer service to be excellent... Perhaps if you called in your order this afternoon they could overnight it to you??

I get gear shipped to hotels all the time. Just make sure you call the hotel and tell them you're expecting a package and on what date in case you aren't checked in yet when it arrives.

I searched Dublin high & low and to be honest am kicking myself i left things so late as Mic's were few & far between!!
I got one tho-Yoga-EM-102-Mini tie clip Condenser mic.
Not very good,but the best i could get,Hopefully it will do the job!
Its battery operated.I'll just try and get beside a speaker & hope for the best i guess!!
