Just wondering if anyone might have any info on the AKG D109 Lavalier? I googled and really could not find much. I know they were made around the late 70s and I believe they are omnis. Have no idea about phantom or frequency response though. I know they were mostly used as TV voice mics. I did find a couple posts of people using them in the last few years to mic acoustic gear who were happy with the results but who knows.
Anyway... I have bunch of friends that ask to borrow gear to stealth that realy are not tapers and probably would not take care of my gear as well as I do. So I'm not very comfortable giving out $1500 in gear to most of them.
I found a pair of the d109s really cheep and decided to pull the trigger to see if this is something that may be better for them to borrow and still get a decent tape (and me a copy in the process.) If not they were cheep enough that it won't be bad eating the cost of them, plus, I can probably sell them for twice the amout I paid.

no help with the D109's...but if someone is looking for a DPA 406x substitute with that AKG sound, I've been enjoying my AKG C 577 WR's...

If you wanted to get a cheap pair of mics to lend out get the cheapie $30 SP binaurals and a battery box.

Well.... I was not really planning on buying a set of cheep mics, but saw these on ebay and figured for $50 bucks it would be worth it to see what the AKGs were like. The added bonus would be something that I could loan out. Most of the people that ask me could easily afford the gear you suggest + an iRiver but are not into taping enough to do it. I think curiousity got the best of me. :-}
