Title: portable jukebox
Post by: Jimna on August 13, 2006, 04:06:44 PM
It doesnt appear that most folks are using their iriver or r1 as a jukebox, but if anyone is, can they give me advice on freeware to compress my music to mp3 in order to upload to the iriver?  i want to fill it with my cds to go in work vehicles.

im not familiar with the mp3 format either, so any advice on what setting is to high of compression and causes poor sound quality would be appreciated.

Foobar will compress it. That or winamp, or DBpoweramp.

I use foobar, the standard setting is 190kbps(LAME), and it sounds fine to me. I aint expecting to be bowled over with sound quality while I am working out.

No problem man, good luck. I had winamp for a long time, but now prefer FOOBAR to all the other players. less resources used, more customizeable, etc..

I also suggest naming programs: psychic mp3 and id3tagit. Rip your cd's to mp3's then use psychic mp3 to name and tag and id3tagit for any tweaks or additions.
