I have an issue with a few machines transfering files. I looked at the support article, (doesn't exist anymore), and looked at the FAQ to no avail.
On my work machine, XP Pro, everything works fine.
I have 3 other XP Pro machines, I'm using Nomad Explorer. All the machines see the JB3, once I start transferring files anywhere between 10% and 50% of transfer, it says the file does not exist and stops the transfer. This is the same on all three machines, and I installed on a Windows 2000 machine and had the same error. I would really like to be able to do transfers on my home machine.
Has anyone else had this issue and resolved it.
Thanks in advance for all the help.

Are the Nomad Explorer drivers up to date on the PC? Have you removed Notmad Explorer, and old drivers, before installing the new ones? Are you running the JB3 off internal or external power? Do the USB ports function properly with other devices? And other functions (e.g. does the PC drop connectivity with the JB3 only when it's transferring, or also when it's simply viewing its contents)?

I thought I missed some details....
The drivers were install on a new XP install, all 3 times. I used the same process as I did on my machine that works correctly. That is use the latest driver from Nomad, then install Nomad Explorer. I'm using external power, although it does the same on internal power. I'm using USB to connect to the JB3. Like I said it sees the JB3, I can read, and change filenames, it's just during transfer that it fails.......
I'm wondering if it just Nomad Explorer is flaky???

Also all other devices on the same USB port, or another, work just fine. Yes, it is just during transfer.

hmm. I doubt it's nomad explorer. I've never had any issues with it and it's way better than creative playcenter. I know you said the drivers are installed but that is the first thing that came to mind. have you tried it with firwewire?? again have you uninstalled and reinstalled everything? if not start there.

I posted this once before, but I don't know if anybody else has tried it. On my office PC I find that the only way for it to connect and stay connected is to turn on the CJB3, plug in the USB cable to my PC, then plug it into the CJB3. It detects right away and I have no problems at all. If my CJB3 is off when I plug it in, it won't turn on. If I plug it in before attaching to the PC it will look OK, but crap out halfway through transfers. This is on a Win 2000 Pro machine. At home, my Laptop (2000) and PC (XP Media Center) work fine and recognize it no matter how I connect.
Doesn't make any sense, but through trial and error I've found this to work. I also have a Creative Zen Touch MP3 player at work and I have to go throught the same steps to connect it. If you have an open PCI slot, you can buy a 4 port IEEE Firewire card at Best Buy for under $20. I got one about 2 years ago and it's sooooo much faster and more stable than the USB in my opinion. I have an external HD that I keep hooked up 24x7 and attaching the CJB3 and dragging and dropping from it to the external (both working on the PCI slot) even works fine, but slows down a bit.

I do have a firewire card, so no I didn't try that.
Oysterhead, I'm going to try that when I get home....hopefully that's the trick.... :)
Thanks to all

even if it's (usb) not the cause you should use firewire. the jb3 only works with usb 1 not 2. I went from 15-20 + min transfers to 5 mins with firewire.

My PC {XP Pro} just started doing something similar this weekend. At first it wouldn't recognize the jb3 {which it occasionally doesn't see} so I did my hot plug method which got it to work then I go to transfer the file from jb3 > pc and it says "File access not allowed" {or something close}. Both of my jb3s got this error. I use firewire and it always has worked for me so I went to my laptop which has USB2 and did the transfer and then pulled those files to my workstation.

My JB3 does similar things. I formatted my HD last year, but before that, I was using my firewire card to transfer everything. After the reintall, I go straight for the firewire and on every transfer of more than a few seconds, it stops. So being frustrated, I decided to use the USB port, just for shits and giggles. Lo and Behold, it fucking works! Very strange.
Before the reformat, I had started with USB, and then upgraded to firewire after I got my firewire card. Thus I had originally used the USB port and then switched to Firewire. Now I do vice versa, same setup, same files, and it takes a shit.
