fuck
how do i make it not brickwall next time?
my rig last night =
SP-CMC-19>Sony MZ-RH910 Hi-MD
i recorded 'mic in'
i had the AGC set as "ForLoudMusic" on the recorder
and the mic sesitivity set - "low"
-
mic-in is the culprit. go line-in.
lose the agc. set up for manual use, not automatic.
+t thanks for the advice
just 1 more question:
will line-in work even if i dont use a batt box to power my mics??
-
run your mics with the BB and into the line in jack.when the music starts set your levels manually, max out the meter at about 3/4 of the way.you wont have any problems.
also.before the music starts go into the menu and set the controls over to manual, then go into pause mode.this way when the music starts the setting will already be adjusted and all you have to do is hit unpause, and then make you level adjustment as needed(most of the shows i do around "24/25" on the meter works fine.
i think the amp on the mic jack is only like 3 or 4 volts, this can only handle very soft acoustic music, any hard/louder music will brickwall everytime.
always use a BB.you dont want to suck precious juice from the recorder, and if you have a r/o on the BB you'll want to utilize that as well.

you dont want to suck precious juice from the recorder
lol that reminds me ;D
i sucked the internal lithium battery empty in 30 mins that night :P
luckily i had the external AA adapter and a pack of AA Energizer Lithium E2 batteries [one AA Lithium lasted me the rest of the night (2h 30m) and when i left the AA Lithium was still at 100%]
sucks that those AA lithiums are $11 for 4 batteries >:(

i cant remember the battery numbers off hand, but my m100 came with the high end recharable.when fully charged and the dry battery dock attached(with one aa) you will get 4-5 hours of record time on PCM setting, not bad.
my BB with a new decent 9vlt. gets somewhere like 100 hours of record time,i usually change it every couple shows just to be safe.
if you dont use the BB you will defintely cut down your mds power quickly.

its kinda funny, i have never uploaded anything from my mdrs to my computer(i dont have a cd burner on my comp)
i always run the mdr directly into my stand alone sony cd burner.i have always seemed to get excellent results,i wonder how much they could be improved running through a sound/editing program? maybe someday

Damn dude, I just tossed out a CDR last week cause no one I knew needed one.
I had some issues with Sonic Stage before I updated the XP SP2 and everything has been smooth sailing ever since.

my comp is like 7 years old,no cdr,no dvdr........lol
its okay though, you would(probably) be surprised what a mdr>(direct)cdr sounds like.if you want to hear a sample of a show get ahold of me.the lastest ones i have done, i cant see how they could be any better. 8)

Ive got a Philips 775 CDR...its a real piece of shit. It will only read SONY CDRs...Ive had the thing since brand new! I did all my old SP transfers with a MD deck w/ optical out into that CDR. Now it just sits there and waits for me to load in a Dual Disc since thats the only thing in the house that will actually read one of those discs.

Ive tried just about every brand out there. I picked up 200 sonys from when I worked at best buy a few years ago and ive only gone thru about 50 or so im pretty set for life. This CDr got horrible reviews on just about every website out there but I got it for next to nothing and i guess its worth just about that.
