Title: My laptop reads insert disc?
Post by: Joeski on September 12, 2006, 08:50:03 AM
Hello

Over this past weekend my wife's laptop from her work which I hijacked to do some burning of DVD's and CD's started to give a message when I put a CD with music into it that reads something like this.  Please insert disc into drive.  I checked a few things and am now lost.  Does anyone know a way to tell if the drive just doesn't spin anymore or is broken or I somehow disconnected it?  I didn't drop it or even bump it.  I cant burn music CD's with Feurio, I can't play any music with it, I can't watch DVD's with it, nothing.  I have burned 100's and 100's of CD's and extracted plenty too with EAC but now it will do nothing.  Thanks for any help.

hmmm...it could be dead, but you might try going here: http://www.pcbuyerbeware.co.uk/CD-DVD-DriveProblems.htm
look at #3 on the list of problems, you might try that one assuming you are running WinXP.
