Title: Sony ECM-999 connection diagram?
Post by: gorlando on September 18, 2006, 03:53:59 PM
I just bought a Sony ECM-999. It has no cable.
The mic has a connector XLR5M, so I have to buy a plug XLR5F, a cable (2 twisted pais plus screen) and two 1/4" jack stereo connectors to plug into my Microtrack 24/96.
Can anybody help with the wiring diagram of this mic?
Thanks
Giovanni

You'll like the mic - very nice piece of gear...

On Ebay for 135 $. However it came without cable and without manual. Can anybody mail me the manual? That would be useful too.

Thank you for the wiring diagram.

Is there anybody else who has the manual?

Now, I received the mic, it is in good conditions, battery contacts ok,capsules ok (by the way, it is true, it has to be kept vertical, since the top is closed and the front capsule is facing the side of the mic - there is a sort of windscreen built in underneath the wire mesh, so I don't think I'll need one outside), it shows the led flashing when switched on.
To test it I just need the 5 pins XLR connector (I bought a Neutrik on Ebay, it is in transit...), I already buit the cable with good quality mic cable and two 1/4" Neutrik jacks to connect to my MT 2496.
I have not found the manual yet, and I don't want to pay 15+ $ to the websites which sell manuals, also because I have already opened the mic and figured out its basics.
I only have a doubtabout the switch which powers on the mic. It has 2 "on" positions, tagged "M" and "V". I guess one is with the low-cur filter, but I'd like to know which one (I guessed the "V" one, but not sure) and the cut frquency / slope. Anybody can help here?
Than you

PS: This is really a useful website and I am learning a lot by reading its posts. Unfortunately with the knowledge it comes the desire to improve, and this means $$$ (shoud I replace the Sony ECM-77B with DPA 4060? SHould I buy a MIC2496 and use my MT as bit bucket?  Etc.(:-(

I think the "M" means "Music" and the "V" means "Vocal"...

I always use the "M" setting...
