OK, I decided to dump my SDs and ordered a matched pair of ADK A51-TL. Also ordered a pair of silver clad Hydras, time for the cheap copper no-names to go.. ;D
So anyway, the mics arrived today. I knew what size they would be, but ... Holy dumbbell Batman! You could brain somebody with one of these bad boys. I did not realize they were gonna be so, well, so beefy! :o
So I need a beefier stand now.
Obviously with the LDs stealth is not an issue - anyway I only do open shows (Phil, Bob, etc) so if a specific venue will not let me walk in with the kitchen sink on a pack mule then I figure it is a sign from above to just put the gear in the car and buy a dose in the lot. ::)
I kinda like the looks of this one: Bogen 3364QL
Bogen 3364QL (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=125206&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation)
But I am interested in suggestions from people running these mics. What's everyone using?
Thanks!
Rob

I bought a "Bosh" (sic) Light Stand off of EBAY. It has about a 4' spread and is about 8' tall. $35 plus S&H if I remember correctly...
Dig it: http://makeashorterlink.com/?T2E236DCD
I couldn't find my exact stand, but the Dyna looks good...

PS where in NC are you, and what kind of SDmics did you ahve before??? I'm in Raleigh

Thnks I'll check it out.
My SDs were ADK SC-Ts, dumped them, and my entire mic rig to a bud already if that's why you are asking.
Grew up in the sticks outside of Chapel Hill. Went to school at State, lived in Raleigh 17 years. LOve that town, but currently I'm transplanted in Atlanta.

Actually, I was hoping to find a pair of SC-Ts in the area to comp with my TLs. I've wanted SDs for a while and have always wondered at the SC-Ts...

Sorry. I would send them to you if I still had them...
For the money to my ears they were better than C4s (ducks) but what I really wanted was to have the option to run hypers. Rapdog in the small venues they are usually playing nowadays can be pretty muddy with cards.

No hypers is what has held me back from trying the SC-Ts out... Need hyper for the bars...

I wanna move back to Raleighwood, but so far have not been able to work it out. If and when I get back that way maybe we can do a timeshare on a pair of Gefells, lol...

Hey Robert, not to get you guys off topic, but I have Terry's old set of A51S LEs and I've had absolutely no issue running them in the Dynatran stands. I have two of them, a 13 footer and then a tall one ;)

They don't have the fancy name, but I've never had any issues at all with mine.

Yeah sorry about that, we kinda digressed there, LOL.
Thanks for the info.
I'm new here, just donated, so as soon as they credit me I'll send +Ts around... ;)

No worries... you'll find lots of tangents running around here. Glad to have you aboard. And you'll have to wait till you have 50 posts for the ability to smite or exhault.

You'll dig it. Just make sure you get the right adapter for it, or plan on clamping.

^^^^^^^^
I'm an old man. If I wanted to run that rig I'd also have to have one of these, and can't find one that fits >:D :

Less than $25 shipped.
Thanks to everyone who suggested them. These stands are an incredible deal. 9110 should make a grate festie stand, but I think I'm gonna order an 806 to have something a little smallertoo... 8)
