Post by: jasonw on September 24, 2006, 01:24:00 PM
Going to a bluegrass show today and it will be outside.  I dont have any windscreens....should I be worried?  Should I rig something up?

Anything is better than using nothing, wind noise sucks.

grab a pair of athletic tube socks, and use those.

and if people look at you funny, tell them you had to dry your laundry!

the socks probably won't work too well with your smaller mics (assuming you are runnin what's in your sig-line) but the nerf ball, trimmed for size and, of course, style might do the trick.

In a pinch I went to a dollar store once, and bought 2 of those basketball games you hang on the back of your closet/bedroom door.  Next to the dollar store was a jo-anne's fabric.  For about $4 I made some dead rat windscreens.  I did this while campling, and made everything by latern light.  They worked pretty well.
