Title: Split config: ~2' split with 2 x KM235 T-bar
Post by: Brian Skalinder on September 29, 2006, 03:35:27 PM
Toying around with how I'm going to run my 414s tonight at Tortoise, and found an old KM235 t-bar in the closet, missing the two thumbscrews on the ends used to secure shockmounts.  So I mounted joined with my other, complete, KM235 bar to get a broader spread out of my 414s.  Including the extension of the shockmounts, I get nearly 24" spread (breaks down to ~8" per KM235 bar + ~4" extension from each shockmount).  Should be plenty for ambient recording in the mainly small venues I frequent.  And, it packs up darn small.  :)

Edit to add:  Because of the hinges, I'm also able to arrange for splits less than ~24", as well.

Now, if only I'd motivate to built a j-disc one of these days...

+t for that idea, I'm gonna try that.  Trying to figure out how to split my omnis without bringing an extra stand when I go taping solo.  Now I know.  Thanks!
