Title: Opcode SonicPort and Win2K
Post by: diskwzrd on October 03, 2006, 03:22:35 PM
Hi-

Just got one of these and want to connect it to my Win 2K box. Anyone know of anything special I need to do to get it to work properly? I know there are some WinXP issues with it.

Thanks,

M

oh wow, i haven't thought of those devices in a long time.  i owned the datport when it came out for a couple of weeks.

if i remember correctly, it would only work with win98se, not even win2k, let alone xp.

Drivers seem to only work with 98SE so dual boot OS is one solution.  I think to remember someone updating from 98SE to XP or 2000 and experienced the Opcode working OK as before with 98SE.

i run the datport on an win2k box.  here's the trick.

in order to access the utility which changes the sample rate and bit depth, you need a 98se box.
i just set mine to 1644.1k and use a behringer SRC2000 in order to supply the 1644.1k signal that my datport recognizes.

i don't have a 98se box anymore.
it will work fine in win2k, but you cannot access the utility that is supplied with the box (mostly because the support disappeared immediately...)
