Title: Misload DAT would you 'reuse?"
Post by: IceMan on October 05, 2006, 11:42:44 AM
First - apologzie if this is in the wrong place.

I taped a show last night, levels etc were fine all night.  Go to listen today and its blank. Its happened once or twice in the past and I asked before and it was probably a mis-load or what have you.

Question.
Is the DAT itself "junk" or was it just bad luck kinda thing.

Thanks for your time.

D7?
You probably recorded on the backside of the tape.
Rewind to the very end of the tape.
Open the cassette.
Cut the tape near the empty spool.
Turn tape over 180 degrees and re-attach to empty spool with some adhesive tape.
Close cassette.
Carefully rewind tape, make sure all of the tape flips.
Re-open the cassette.
Turn over the empty spool.
Close cassette.
Press play.

Avoid touching the tape, especially near where you recorded audio.

It will show levels whether you are taping or not - providing it's capable of registering the presence of the mic (I think).

Could be time for a service...
