Any reason my flac file would read as a winamp file? I dragged files, winamp/wave into flac 1.7.1 decoded and they came out as winamp files again.
although they where about half the size. i dragged those files back to flac fronted and they came up as flac files?????
Before I torrent these I want to know if they'll apprear as winamp or flac files
thanks fro any help

sound like flacs to me
right-click the file and see what the properties say

you have winamp set as the default program for flac apparently. the flac files still open up in any other app that reads them, but double clicking them will play 'em in winamp...
you should use foobar, anyway ;)

Because Winamp is the default application associated with files having the extension .flac. Two things may help:
<1> disable hiding extensions - depending on what Win OS you're running, some variation of: Tools | Options | View and untick Hide file extensions for known file types; this step isn't necessary, but will allow you to see the file extension, something I find useful.
<2> associate FLAC FrontEnd with FLAC files - again, depending on what Win OS you're running, some variation of: Tools | Options | File Types, select FLAC file type, hit the Change button, and select FLAC FrontEnd from the list (or navigate via the Other button and select the FLAC FrontEnd EXE).

install the 'special' version, it already has flac/shn and a ton of other plugins
