Title: Best stealth cardioid mic?
Post by: lushka on October 10, 2006, 05:01:11 AM
Hey everyone:

Could any of you fellow tapers suggest a good cardioid mic set up for a price of not more than 800 USD?

Thanks.

For under $800? Go with a pair of AT 853 phantom-moded. With the bat box and that I think you are looking at around $200-300.

If you really want to hit near $800, look around for a deal of a pair of used Schoeps MK4s. Those will be more than $800 most of the time though.

how small and lowpro do you need to be?

akg c391 with actives would put you around 600-700 I believe and gives you the options of other caps in the future

Really small. I guess active cables won't work. I mostly tape non-taper friendly bands.

If really small is what you are looking for, go with the AT ES943/C
