Title: Rockboxing an iPod
Post by: Javit on October 12, 2006, 01:19:14 PM
I know this probably isn't the right forum so please move it, I just had no clue where to go.  But, I'm thinking of pickng up an Ipod soon and am wondering if there's a website around explaining how to rockbox it and support gapless playback... thanks.

The new Ipods now support gapless playback, as does the newest version of Itunes. :)

I'd get the biggest HD you can afford

I would also take into consideration what you are gonna use it for most of the time.  I use mine when Im working out and snowboarding as well as around the house etc.  So I went with a Nano.  The normal Ipods were too big for me to use comfortably while working out even with an armband, etc.  The nano is so small I cant even tell its there.  I have the 4gb model and it is perfect for me right now.  If I was still traveling alot I would get one of the normal ones though, since I was gone for a month at a time and the larger hd would have been nice.  The video ones are definitely out for me, those things are huge and I barely watch TV as it is.

Love your tagline.  Best song on the new album IMO!  Cooley is da man.

fwiw, you'll get a MUCH better deal from someone trying to upgrade to a video - which is excessive for us music lovers.

I only use my 40Gb for music (All AACs) and I unloaded my 3gen (non color screen with the "touch" buttons) for 100 and bought a 40Gb color phot for 220.

get decent earphones too!!  Shures rocks, and I just tried some of the noise canceling bose dealies and was pretty impressed.

viva la pod...   www.timscales.net/itunes.htm

I tried out those Bose too...they were terrible.  I would definitely not recommend them.  Very hollow sounding...like your listening from a good distance from your ears to the earcup, plus there was no midrange, good bass or treble to speak of.  Just a total incoherent headphone.
