Like most members here, I have a collection of music which I'd like to ensure will be with me even if I have a hard drive crash. Even if I drop that H120 and destroy it. Even if, G_D forbid, my house burns down. I've looked at a number of options including DVD. The problem with them all is that it's just more work to create the backup and still, if there's a fire, your toast...well, the discs are anyway. I came across this article about Carbonite today in PC World which looks like a decent alternative. Thought others might find it interesting/attractive. http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,127477/article.html

I record to JB3, transfer to external hard drive, edit and save, then burn both an audio copy on CD and a data copy on DVD. I then put those in a file cabinet and delete all original material. I have accessed these files years later in some cases. If you're worried about protecting your files from fire then get a fireproof safe. Also good for important documents like passport, birth certificate, etc.
