Title: JB3 and Firewire connection
Post by: mmadd29 on October 18, 2006, 11:19:40 AM
I bought a firewire card and cable from ebay.  When I put it into the machine, the JB3 was not regonized.  I then went out and bought a hard enclosure, put that on the card, and it works perfectly.  This tell me the firewire card is good.....and either I have a bad cable or my JB3 is screwed up.

My $64K question.......is there anything you need to set on the JB3 to use firewire transfer?

This all could be due to my own stupidity ::)

Thanks

First off, is your JB3 updated with the latest firmware?  Second, do you know if the firewire port on your JB3 is good?  Can you try it on someone else's computer?

There is notihng to set on the JB3 to use the Firewaire, same with a computer.

The JB3, has the latest firmware.  I have no idea if the port is good, nor can I use someone else's machine.  I'm just going to buy a new cable and if it still doesn't work, then just assume it's the JB3 port

I had a problem with Firewire transfer on mine when I first got it.  I lost the cable before updating the firmware and have just stuck to USB ever since.
