Title: Zoom H4 for Live Recording?
Post by: Pokey1 on October 24, 2006, 04:53:24 PM
Anyone tried using the mic's on the H4 in a loud recording envirorment like jam sessions, concerts live rehearsals. How do the built in mic's work out. Do they distort easily. Or are the pre-amps worth while? ??? Thanks

I recorded my cover band Rockstreet, last Saturday. My H4 was clamped to a light fixture around 10 feet from the stage and about 8 feet in the air. Used the built in mics, 16/44, 2 gig SD card, rechargable batteries and had no problems at all. The only post processing was to balance the stereo image and increase the volume. No EQ, compression, etc. No effects on the H4 were used. Here is a short sample. I might be able to post larger samples in a day or so. BTW, only the vocals and keys are going through the PA.
