Title: Have to throw in a mic reccomendation(low cost, great microphones)
Post by: RebelRebel on October 26, 2006, 05:23:16 PM
I was recently blown away by the KEL Audio P-1 (http://www.kelaudio.com/P-1) . My teacher got some on demo from the manufacturer, and when I first heard them(without knowing what they were), I was thinking to myself"man, those guitars sound great!"(he had all KELs on a Guitar Quartet). I stayed after hours (I work there for 2 hours a day) and listened to more sessions, and was blown away each time. They are extremely low noise, and "airy". They are only 800 for the pair..anyway, I highly HIGHLY reccomend them. I will be getting a pair as soon as I am able.

samples are here (http://www.kelaudio.com/soundclips.html)

That J45 sample is the cat's tits... I'm sure the trident doesn't hurt either...

im sure the j45 doesnt hurt either.. ;)

I have one and man, I lusted after one for years before I was able to make the leap on an old model. Tweedy uses them, and what got me hooked on em was hearing him play..I always loved he and farrar's acoustic guitar sound. I love all of my guitars like family members, but the j45 is very special.

To my ears that sounds real good >:D, especially for a mic that cost 130 bucks street price.  way better than the lost cost chineese mics that are hyped in the top end. ;D

T+ Teddy.........

I wonder how they differ from the MBHO's, because the MBHO equivilent isn't so highly regarded? I assume you can't change capsules?

fixed cardiod..MBHO in general just arent advertised that much...but as far as the sound..mighty fine, imo, and without the earsplitting brightness that the modular capsules have(to my ears)
