Hi.
In the middle of recording a rehearsal the other day, CHannel 1 just cut out, for no apparent reason. It's been dead since.
I love my R4 and have had nothing but great experiences with it. I purchased it with the busman mod (transparency upgrade).
I'm using it to record my live gigs. I usually use my Shure VP88 on two channels and use the other two for either a board-feed, amp-line-outs, additional mics, or a combo of the above.
When reviewing the wav's in my editor, I can still hear a bit of static, but the signal is basically gone. (the mic, btw, is fine, it's definitely the R4).
Here's a clip (Channel 1 only) of the moment where it cuts out: http://maxoepen.com/sounds/Channel_1_dies.mp3 (http://maxoepen.com/sounds/Channel_1_dies.mp3)
I've since tested the Channel with different signals (mic, line, w/ phantom p., w/o ph.p., etc), it's not getting a signal anymore. though it does register the voltage "pops" when I'm plugging/ungplugging stuff.
Anyways, for you techies out there: What seems to be broken here? Does this sound like something specific to you?
I know I'll have to send it in. And what sux is that I'm going on a tour with a group tomorrow that I was planning to record (using all 4 channels of course). :-[

am i correct to assume that the busman mod voids the warranty with edirol/roland?
who are you sending it to for service?

He will send it to me and I will fix it in a day and ship it right back to where he needs it shipped so he isn't down for more than a few days.

very cool. no implied doubt, busman, i just wasn't sure. you're the man. +t.
and for the record, the *only* reason i haven't sent you my r4 for a little exploratory work is because my previous r4 had an LCD failure that i couldn't explain, it entailed a trip back to edirol. this was right about the time you were first offering your mods.

Busman fixed my r4 super quick turned it around in a couple of days, no worry about customer service with Chris, he'll take care of you!
