Title: ISO DIY TS'er to mod Teac ME-80s to stealth with 3 wire battery box
Post by: hobbes4444 on November 07, 2006, 01:38:20 PM
So I have been working with hyperplane to make a 3 wire battery box for my AT933s.  In the course of doing that, I was able to snag a pair of Teac ME-80s on ebay.  I want to mod these to stealth them, similar (or the same as ) to the franken-nak mod that leegeddy and others have discussed here.  However, rather than 48v>9v powered, I'd like to terminate the Teac/Naks in mini-XLR to use with the 3 wire battery box hyperplane made.

Is there anyone around still doing this mod?  Please PM or email me.  Ideally I'd like to have the mics done by 12/10. . .

Thanks,
Dave

I recently asked Busman2 about this for my Tascam PE-120s, although I had discussed terminating in mini-XLR to plug into phantom power adapters.  Anyway, he still does this 'Franken-Nak' mod.

I believe his preference is for you to provide all materials and cover shipping.  He just charges for labor.

YMMV - you'll need to contact him directly to know for sure.

Bump.  Put this project on hold for a while, and figured I'd resurrect it.  Anyone out there interested??  Chris??

Thanks,
Dave

run_run_run (seth) was having this done to a pair of Nak300's and was going to run them into a Church St-9100.

Never heard if worked out or not.

Busman offered to do it for $100 and he never got back to me, I am sure he is just busy. Been swamped down with school work and have not thought about it much. Time is not a issue at all with these, so if anyone wants to give it a try PM me.  I really like the nak sound, and chopped naks ~> 9100 ~> Iriver sounds like a good combo to me.

Hit up busman again.  He is usually very responsive.  He has done multiple mods for me that I have been very happy with.
