Hey everyone:
Did anyone have experience in using this unit? Can one adjust gain during recording or this can only be done during postproduction?
Thanks.

Yes, I have a bit of experience with the Gmini 400. You can indeed adjust gain during recording. The main keypad up/down keys adjust headphone (or Line Out) volume, while the right/left keys adjust recording gain (indicated by a horizontal "slider").
However, bear in mind that the Gmini 400/402 does not have a built-in mic preamp nor does it provide "plug-in power". I record using an external preamp - either my M-Audio DMP-3 or a "boutique" pre on hire.

Ive gotten 3 hours on my gmini on a bunch of occasions. just be sure to power down between sets
and set the light to turn off after a few seconds. (if you leave the screen lights on it wont record nearly as long. )

I've gotten over 8 hrs at festivals with my archos av500. These things are rocks-

Hi
I need one information please :
Yesterday, something really weird happened....I was at the show. I've wired everything, i did press the record button on the archos, it was recording because I've seen it....I've set the hd in order to spend less battery as possible (no internal light, light off the hd after 10 seconds..)
When i've been out of the show, I stopped the recording...the hd started to record and after few seconds it stopped with no reason....as a result the file is something like 50 second long, 1MB, but that indicates 1h56min long....
I really don't know why the archos did write ALL the set and stopped after few seconds...
As you use hd recorder maybe you have an explanation, because i really don't understand :o
I've bought an IRiver, if you have any recommandations, i'am here because i really don't want to go back to md recorders....
Bye
