I've seen a few plans and kits for this, but not exactly what I want. I need plans for a small battery powered, stereo, unbalanced mic preamp that has gain pots and clip leds. Maybe max of 45 db gain. Does anybody have any suggestions? There is a lot of knowledge on this board, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction!

There are many designs its best to start with something like a simple two stage preamp with a small fet in the front end and a opamp like a 5532 or opa2227pa something like that. Let me know if I can help you out in any way.

Come to think of it, I do remember seeing a specific kit for sale on the web. I can't remember where it was, but I will try to find it again. I remeber it had the clipping led, the
adjustable gain..etc... It wasn't the "project 66", or something like that.
edit: doesn't have it

That preamp can only really do 20 db then you get into distortion if you try and make it do more.

I didn't think it could do much, considering it looked too simple.
What is it missing?

Apparently that one is meant for XLR. ??? I need 1/8th.
I'm probably going to build the 12v version of this one:
http://sound.westhost.com/project13.htm
and then move into more complicated things like an opamp.

I need also: 3.5 mm / it´s in amerika 1/8" .... ;) (3.5 mm it´s in Germany...Europe) and the plan with a 9V battery...
