Title: Would you like to have this room?
Post by: scervin on December 19, 2006, 09:26:32 PM
Headed over to Pete's next month once his Salk's and Moscode break/burn in.  Will be listening with Jim Salk himself.  Who knows, maybe he'll talk me into a pair of the HT3's  ;)

Great guy and I can't wait until he upgrades!  Will be some nice gear FS!

I would guess they are Salk speakers. Could be the Veracity Ht3.

I like the Cary 303 CD player I will never sell mine.
The room itself looks sweet dig that wall treatment and gear table.

Damn, that just makes me want to finnish my room off! I am such a lazy bastard, I could have a similar room if Nick would just do it for me  ;D

What is interesting to me about that room though is how close the seats are to the rear wall. He is obviously using the most of his room & needs the diffuser behind the seats for absorbtion. It's tough to find the perfect room unless you build it. I am still sure it sounds incredible! Better than my stud filled room over the garage  ;D

Carl,

I thought the same when I saw the seating position.  I know Pete was in contact with some acoustic experts in the building process.  Seems he went all out, hell even used cryo'd Romex!!  I have many more questions for him on the 20th.

cryo'd romex.  I love it.

Carl..
we could whoop ass on that room of yours in a weekend.  first things first, but some damn'd sheetrock, get a keg and throw a blue collar party.
we'll have that room at least looking like a room in a day.  two people cutting, two + people hanging.  done in 4 hours.

I'm trying to talk my wife into letting me build those large bass tubes to put on the back wall.  I'll make them out of sheetrock and plaster, paint them...it'll just be part of the wall.
My room is an echo trap.  bass builds up big in the rear corners, and is somewhat missing in the listening position (as opposed to where i'm sitting in the rear corner at my laptop worksation, where it loads up big).
the echo is the worst though.  I can clap my hands by the speakers and it rings...and rings...

I dont know where to start, especialy on a DIY budget.  Knowing that as good as my system has sounded in recent years (and it has been exceptional at times), it is still waaaayyy off frome what it probably can sound like due to the smearing of things from echo.
