I soon will have a P2, so I am slowly moving into the 24bit world, and DVD-a
i have purchased an inexpensive DVD-A player, works fine. Know I am thinking to lighten the load of my receiver I should add a AD to the mix
Any suggestions?
thanks

before you pruchase an external D/A converter, be sure that your "inexpensive DVD-A player" outputs a full 24 bit signal. some cheaper players only output 16/48 on digital outs. others have the limit at 24/48, even if your source material is 24/96. best to check that you can output a full 24/96 signal to the DAC before you spend your money there...

Anyone know of a list out there of DVD-a players that will output the full-resolution digital datastream? Downsampling sux!

Whoops, looks like this is going back.
Thanks Jason, it does only go to 48kHz. Odd because i borrowed a dvd-a disc from someone to check it out. Tried to use the bitstream/pcm digi cable to my reciever but couldn't get it to work, switched to the ang cables and it worked fine. I just thought that had something to do with which device was doing the D>A conversion, never thought it wasn't playing less then 96kHz
Back to the drawing board, the unit was a panasonic dvd-f87, just cost 116.00, too sweet to be true, i guess
I say a post a while ago about different modles to buy, i'll check it out and pick up one of them

Actually, if it plays them, but just drops it to 48kHz from 96kHz, then it might be fine. I plan on recording at 24/48 anyways.
Thanks again

Add one - Apogee Mini-DAC
I didn't give it a full workout, but really liked what I heard. very clean, transparent and wanted to try it on the home system, but could not.
Not giving up the Bechmark this week, however.
