george -> http://www.tigerdirect.com/?w=www.1tigerdirect.com (http://www.tigerdirect.com/?w=www.1tigerdirect.com)

buy an enclosure (~$20) and a big 'internal hard-drive'
install the internal HD into the enclosure and you have a much cheaper option that buying one 'out of the box'

EDIT
this ain't bad for 300gig: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2244169&Sku=S130-4034

although i'm sure there are deal's if you are feeling the need to shop.  it has firewire and USB 2.

be careful with this george, you do not have a SATA capable device (i.e. laptop)
