Title: Random Audacity Problem
Post by: Youneverno41 on January 12, 2007, 05:35:37 PM
For some odd reason, Audacity is being odd.  Usually my line-in recordings open easily in audacity.  I uploaded the first set of of Umphrey's show no problem, and I went to upload the 2nd set and this comes up" ERROR OPENING FILE Could not open fileL /Volumes/My Book/My Live recordins/Line in Recordings/UM-12/29-06 Set two.wav" and this is only happening with a few recordings ???

Bad transfer or otherwise corrupt recording.

Bad transfer or otherwise corrupt recording.
yeah but it's two recordings of the same concert, just different sets.

Could be a header problem that Audacity doesn't handle well.  CD-Wave does a pretty good job of opening WAVs even with screwed up headers.  Try opening in CD-Wave (and if asked about the header, choose to overwrite), re-save as WAV#2, and then try opening in Audacity.

Alright I figured it out :D But I have another problem now.  I'm encoding the UM files to FLAC and it has been encoding one track for liek 30 minutes and I can't quit the program and I can't restart my computer because they program is on my external hard drive

So...what was the issue?

and I can't quit the program and I can't restart my computer because they program is on my external hard drive

I'm not following why does the program's location prevents you from stopping it and/or restarting your computer... ???
