Can the UA-5 can output 24 bit through spdif/optical?

Yes, if the ADV switch on the back is on.

Thats what I thought. Thanks!

One more: If I'd hook my UA-5 via USB to my laptop, can I record 4 separate tracks? Like if I'd want to do a matrix with two mics in the xlrs and a board feed in the RCAs?

Yes it can output 24 bit (with the ADV switch)

No, 4 tracks is not possible.  you can always blend the 4 input channels on the spot which will be sent to the computer as two tracks, but doing 4 independent tracks, sadly, is not something the UA-5's can do.

Thats okay. The only time I do matrixes is when I have power, so I can just take my large interface. I just thought the UA-5 would be nice because its so small...

Thanks guys!
