I was taping outside this weekend, in a brisk wind 20mph+ at times. Despite Neumann windscreens, I was getting a lot of audible buffeting. I lowered my rig, and used the soundboard tent as a backside shield, which greatly improved things, but it got me to thinking about more advanced wind protection, a la those fuzzy furry windscreens that I have seen on video cameras, and which would probably work for most SD mics. So, does anyone make these for LD mics, so that could be slipped over the existing windscreen? Any help would be appreciated.

Out of curiousity, which Neumann windscreens?

Several folks here have made them in the past. Not sure if anyone still is. Do a search for "dead rats", should return several threads.
Also have been a couple of threads on what to use to make your own. Fake fur from a fabric or arts&crafts store was the material of choice iirc.

I found a couple of DIY ideas doing a Google search, but they looked kind of sketchy. I also saw the dead cats/rats, but they seem way too small. Might be a project for the girlfriend. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Here's the thread for DSJ's dead rats, including a pic of one on an LSD2:
