So I'm picking up a pair of AT 853s for low pro taping, but the cables are only 5 feet long, and I'd like to have a little more height than that. So my question is, can I run the 853s > Nady phantom adapters > XLRs (for a few extra feet of length) > Pre. Would this be a no no, would it add noise, would phantom work? Thanks for any help!

That will work fine. I do this for onstage and split omni work with the active cm300's all the time.

Cool, thats what I thought, but I wanted to make sure that I'm not gonna add any noise or introduce any other problems...

Yeah, you should be fine.
On an unrelated note, when I am running really long cable runs (I'm talking >100') I will drop my phantom source BEFORE the long cable run, so there is a powered signal making the trip to the pre. But if you're just talking about adding 10' or so, you'll be alright.

hit cliff (ashvillian) up. he runs the 853's and has something rigged up to run to the mp2.

what cable ending are your mics?
I run (http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/item/SP-CMC-4U) w/ the stereo 1/8" male.
I then use a stereo [1/8" female to 1/8" male] 20' footer i got from radioshack to go down the stand.
Take the male end of that cable into these phantom adapters (http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/item/SP-XLRM-MINI-2) XLR Male into the UA-5 that gives 48v phantom to the AT's on top of the stand.
works like a charm and sounds great!
