Title: newbie question
Post by: Brodie87 on February 06, 2007, 04:26:47 PM
i plan to make some recordings using the Sony PCM-M1 and then transfer to CD-R. Do i need a soundcard upgrade? As far as i know, my current sound devices are Realtek AC97 Audio / Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth. (obviously i'm not a sound expect just taking an interest) I want a sound card that will retain the digital quality during the transfer from DAT > CD-R but i'm not sure if what i have is suitable and if not, where to look for a more appropriate sound card. I'd also like to know the type of cable i would need for the transfer
Thanks!

I would suggest one of the m audio audiophile 24/96 cards.  they make a standard one for PC'c, a firewire and a usb.  you will need a coax cable to go from the dat to the card (with the m1 you will need a 7 pin to coax).
