Title: IRIVER H320 noise and skipping Help ??
Post by: whitecat on February 11, 2007, 06:32:46 AM
HI all and thank you firstly for letting me join the community
I have been taping for a number of years with minidisc but thought i would change setups having been given a used Iriver h320. I thought i would give it a go on Friday at a show Overall i am impressed BUT i got a couple of bugs .. Firstly after about 15mins i got some sort of noise on the recording a bit like static and a couple of times it seems to seed up only for a second or so which make it seem like it skips/jumps and lastly it stopped recording after 82mins (only 30secs or so off the final encore )thats 3 sorry carnt count (hihih)
the rig i was using was (again ) a h320 and a sony ecm 717 mic (which has never overloaded on my mds ) record level at about 12 and line in mic in on settings ?? any help advise please ???

Are you using rockbox?  Doesn't sound like it.  If you're not, then do...that'll solve your issues: rockbox.org

aye...rockbox should solve all those issues. the iriver firmware basically sucks for recording - but with rockbox they become lean mean taping machines. ;)

1) yes, you'll be able to control recording levels.
2) it should solve the skipping - that sounds like a known iriver f/w issue
3) you can keep recording until you fill your hdd - in lossless wav too...no mp3s.
4) not sure about the static - could be that the mds supply more power to the mics.

of course whatboutbob forgot to tell you about all the other advantages you get when using rockbox :)

Don't hesitate, you won't regret it!
