Title: Inside of my cable (red, blue and 2 black wires)
Post by: SClassical on February 13, 2007, 11:32:20 PM
A simple question:

Hi I cut my cable to see what it looks like inside..

This is the cable I cut into 2....

http://www.monstercable.com/productDisplay.asp?pin=2719

When I cut it I see 1 red, 1 blue and 2 black smaller wires.

Can someone tell me where these wires are connected to in the connector.

I would think the red will be connected to the ring, blue to the tip and the 2 black to the sleeve. Am I correct to conclude this or I have to do tests to find out? What sort of test can I do to find out where each of the wires are connected. I cannot see any connection when I open the connector because it is all sealed up and covered by a plastic thing when I un-srew the connector.

Thanks and I hope someone knows the answer to my question.

You can use an ohmmeter to test the continuity of each wire to its corresponding connector.....so you can tell what goes where..

Peace,

Simon -
I've got a multimeter that will test for continuity.  when I return the 722 to you, I'll bring it and we can test it out to see how it's wired up.
later,
Jason

red is right, blue is left
black is ground.

thats my guess from here any way.
