Title: Which are the best attenuators?
Post by: rreidiii on February 16, 2007, 09:56:34 PM: I want to know which attenuators I should buy for emergencies. When I get a board feed and Im running late (or forget a phillips head) I can't open my V3 and change the jumper settings. I just want to carry a pair just in case situations like this arise. I am familiar with the XLR Hosa, Audio Technica and Shure, they are all adjustable and look like what I need. Any suggestiong are greatly appreciated.

The best attenuators are the ones you make your self with a few metal film resistors here is a good link for you DIY guys. Just get a hunk of starquad and some neutik connectors and some resistors and your off to the races.

I think 20db is plenty of reduction for most things.

The deal with pads is this. You have to know what your impedance is of the circuit you want to attenuate and then you have to make sure the attenuator or pad is designed for that type of impedance.

It sounds like it time for me to just get rid of the AD-20 and keep doing it analog.......since I get good results

Post by: gusbud1 on April 20, 2007, 01:52:07 PM: Anyone ever use the hosa attenuators? I didn't want to spend the money on the shures, so I went with these and was wondering if anyone else had ever used them, or if I made a bad choice.
