I want to solve the problem of running my TL's w/ ease in MS, Blumlein, and XY. So I was thinking about buying a Shure Stereo Microphone Adapter A27M. Any other TL users do this or other LD users? And does it help distribute the weight better? Do I need any special adapters to run my LD's and shocks? I have a fairly light stand (Basic 9 manfrotto) and don't feel safe using the Super clamp. thanks in advance for any input.
Peace

I think you're best off with a pair of Windtech "C" Type clamps instead:

Edit: whoops, wrong link before.

I agree with brian a pair of clamps makes it nice and easy to do M/S or blumlein.

Markbar...but if you'd rather buy a bunch of parts so be it.

Looks cool, Mark. Only potential issue: it suffers from the same challenge as the Shure vert bar when running LDs coincident - the mics are well off the mic stand's vertical axis, causing instability in lighter weight stands like mine and the one he runs. With a beefy stand, though, the Mark Bar looks like a great option.

Ya yer right Brian. I forget all the different stands out there. When I got the Shure in 93 that was all anyone ran. lol There weren't the plethora of brands there are now. I forget about that. But ya it is rock solid even at 10 feet with the Shure.

Had a Shure Vert Bar with homemade PVC extension. Worked perfect with TLs in the manner you want. You'll need a heavy clamp to hold it up, or go straight on top of stand.

Do ya think I could get away w/ just buying one more Manfrotto Quick Release Mounting Clamp and have a secure configuration on my light stand?

These clamps seem like a cheaper alternative method and two super clamps + TL's +Shocks=10LBS :o I found them at Sound Professional for $18 each.

B&H has them for $15 plus shipping. they are much lighter than a superclamp.
