Title: Newbie: How would I power this in the field?

I am planning on getting a UA5>microtrack eventually but I want to start making tapes with some of the home recording equipment I already have. I have a Presonus Firepod and a Laptop. I am buying a battery for the modular bay on my laptop for extra laptop time but I have NO CLUE how to go about powering the firepod on battery. Any help would be appreciated.

If this is correct, you can use any 12v DC battery. Of course the power draw and the capacity of the battery will determine how long the device runs. (A device that draws 100mA will last 10 hours on battery with 1000mAH capacity > 1000/100 = 10)

I'd double check with the owner's manual about DC power.

The owners manual doesn't really say anything about the power supply etc. It is a pretty crappy owners manual. On the power supply itself it does say "Output: 15 vAC"

This battery will provide 9V with a capacity of 4000mAh. Not sure how much it will provide at 12V (3000mAh perhaps???)

It should work, but not sure for how long...

after doing some research about conversions it seams like this would have about 7333 mah at 12 volts I believe.

that would be a better choice over the PR if the numbers you posted are correct
