I have lost mine and can't find any on eBay. Does anyone know of another source for them?
Thanks
Why bother? The thing introduces noise into the recordings anyway...

have you ever had extra noise using the remote?
No, but, I run digital (optical) in.
The REP build of RockBox, is suposed to fix any noise issues.

Oh its noisy... Trust me as soon as you run an input into the line in and monitor from the headphones via the remote you can hear it big time. The remote as cool as it is, can not be used during real recording. Its a shame because it would be very cool to be able to just look at the small screen in a show and see your levels...
Have you ever recorded with the remote and listened to it without the remote? Try monitoring through the line out, there won't be any ticking noise. When using the remote during recording, it may decrease the sound floor, but I can not hear any audible difference. Start a recording, and monitor it through the line out. Insert the remote, unplug the remote, can you still hear the noise. The noise is only added to the headphone output and not the recording, at least for both of my units.

iirc, this is wrong. The REP doesn't fix any noise issues

Ok. So the noise issues are still a problem, but....
Have noise issues been reported if you run optical in and you just want to use the remote for monitoring levels only?FWIW, I love my remote for playback when driving (when I'm just using my h1xx as a mp3 / FLAC player) but have never used it when recording. I don't stealth though, either.
noise can't be an issue if you run optical as the whole path is digital data

Can you adjust levels with the remote or just view them? I just bought an H320 and I was about to buy a remote for it.
I'm so torn. There doesn't seem to be agreement on whether or not it introduces noise when using line in. It would be so cool if you could easily control levels but not have noise.

Running line-in, you can use the remote to adjust & monitor levels. Running digital-in, you can use the remote to monitor levels only. I believe there is a strong agreement that the remote introduces noises to
most units when recording line-in on the h1xx series. It seems that some people get lucky, and have a unit that is not affected (or not affected as badly) by the remote noise issue. I believe I've read that the grounding circuit path has something to do with it.
You specified h1xx series. . . . Has anyone here had the noise issue with h320?
I just found this in the iRiver FAQ. Sounds interesting:
[170] Does using the remote introduce interference?
Yes. It seems on most units that having the remote plugged in during recording does introduce a ticking noise, which is only really noticeable when amplified. For example, with no gain the extra noise is about 3dB. So if you're using an external pre the issue is moot. However if using the iriver's pre at quiet gigs for a lot of gain (eg about 30dB), you may notice the extra noise.
