At that Price Point you should check these out...

Self powered with onboard converters so you can go digital out of the PC which eliminates a lot of noise.

You can add a subwoofer later if you like.

Hey jammin72,
Do you have these Edirol monitors?  If so, how is the headphone amp in it?  I've tried to find reviews online, but get nothing.  I have been looking for a 2.0 or 2.1 setup, but I'll need decent headphone operation for about half the usage time.

Second this recommendation.  Been thinking about adding this to my studio setup, in fact.

We used to sell them when there was only one model.  It's better than coming directly our of a sound card because you're not dealing with the RF noise.  (This is assuming you have a digital output).

For your price point I think you'd be more than satisfied.

I own them, and love them.  They have a great sound to them.  Well worth the investment, only about $600 or so.  Not bad.

i've got those Edirols.  they are decent for the money.
I *think* they have a headphone amp, but a trip to www.edirol.com will verify, i'm sure.

Check out the B-stock program Bluesky has on their website(only available in the US). I upgraded to the Prodesk 2.1for almost the same cost as the Mediadesk system. I think I was quoted around $350 for a B-stock mediadesk set up. Hard to beat them for the price.

These monitors sound great!!!
