Title: Monitoring Mic2496 & MT
Post by: oldenarm on March 29, 2007, 11:21:37 PM
Using a Microtrack connected via coaxial S/PDIF to Core Sound's Mic2496 pre-amp, I would like to be able to monitor the audio during recording, but the recorder only allows this using its analog inputs.  Core Sound makes the HeadLine DAC, seemingly for this exact purpose, but I would have trouble accommodating the additional expense.

There are a few digital headphones out there, though, I guess mainly for gaming, and I was thinking I could use the other optical output on the Mic2496 with one of these consumer products.  JVC makes a processor for headphones that has optical-in, and analog out.

Does anyone know if this would work?  Do you think this is the cheapest solution for what I wish to achieve, or has anyone solved this problem in a more efficient way?

Thank you very much!
